05/03/2016: Storytime Pup - Sloooooow Uploads

One thing I have found very frustrating is the time required to upload a video to You Tube.  Our average video length is about 6 minutes.  I am finding the average upload time is about 90 minutes,  I am very surprised.  I have read before about people saying how long it takes to upload a video to You Tube/  I thought it might be 20 minutes or so.  I was not expecting an hour and a half.  But, it is high definition and I know that results in large file sizes.
I do think I can render the files differently within Sony Vegas and it might help some.  I need to do some investigation into this and see.  I do not want to trade loss of quality for upload speed.
I also have to look into my Internet speed.  For what I pay Time Warner each month, I should have very high speed Internet.  But, I often wonder.  I know there are websites where you can check your Internet speed.  Another thing I have to do.  If I have to live with the 90 minute upload time, so be it.  I can start the uploads later in the evening.  I will report back on this issue.

05/02/2016: Storytime Pup - We Are Live!

We are live!  Yes, we did meet our launch goal of May 1st.  We did not have our goal of 6 or more shows up.  Yes, more issues, but we did get one up and we are happy about that.
We are even more happy at the initial response from the authors and some other viewers.  Had 80+ views and 10 positive channel comments since we launched at 9PM last night. I know those numbers are small in the grand scheme of You Tube, but it is a great start to us and we know it takes time to grow a subscription base.  We currently have 83 subscribers.  We can't wait for that to grow into the thousands over time.  We are confident that it will happen once people see our videos and start talking about the channel.
Thank you to everyone for your support and feedback up to this point.  Stick with us for what promises to be a journey full of FUN!

05/01/2016: Storytime Pup - It's Time To Roll Out The Red Carpet

Well, it's finally time to roll out the red carpet for the premier of the Storytime Pup Show.  It has taken three and a half months of preparation to get where we are today.  Are we ready?  Well, we still have some work to do in some areas and things to address.  But, as they say "the show must go on"
I worked late into the night shooting and editing and changing and re-doing.  Trying to capture what has been in our heads for months onto video.  I think we have a pretty good thing here and I hope everyone else does too.

As of this moment, it looks like we will premier with include the following segments:

  • A Storytime Segment Featuring "Suzy's Smile - Suzy Dog Fish Gets Braces" by Momma Dot, illustrated by Pascal Gaggelli
  • A Storytime Segment Featuring "Sir Alex and The Missing Toys" by Michael Yu
  • A Magic Window Segment Featuring a swimming tiger cub from Dade City's Wild Things Park
  • A Magic Window Segment Featuring a tiny teacup Pomeranian pup, from Tea Cup Pomeranians
  • A Seek and Find Segment Featuring Suzy Smile and her friends
  • A Seek and Find Segment Featuring Storytime Pup and his friends at the park.
  • TBD - There may also be a "Let's Pretend: segment, if time allows.
After tonight we hope to have 4 to 5 new videos a week.  So, check back often.  If you haven't yet subscribed.  Now is the time.  We will see YOU on the red carpet tonight at 7PM EST.

04/29/2016: Storytime Pup - Keeping It Old School

My kids like to tease me and say I am "Old School".  I laugh when they say it.  And I have to agree.  Granted, I like many of the new things these days and I am even a bit of a gadget fan.  I love all the new technology.  But, so much can be said for the "old days".  Things for kids are so much different now than when I grew up.  I grew up playing "kick the can", "SPUD" and "kickball".  We had a big neighborhood full of kids and we were always playing outside.
I grew up watching Popeye after school and watching Bugs Bunny, Road Runner, The Jetsons and Scooby Doo on Saturday mornings.  You may catch some of these old shows on TV Land or online.  But, kids shows have been replaced by a whole new generation.  Now computer graphics and hip hop and other music have taken over.  I am sure kids enjoy these shows.  But I am sure they would enjoy our generation's shows too.  So, we decided to keep Storytime Pup simple and kind of "old school".  A mix of Romper Room, Mister Rodgers, Captain Kangaroo with a little bit of Sesame Street thrown in for good measure.
You won't find fancy CGI graphics and techno or hip hop music on Storytime Pup.  But we do have fun, hand drawn animations and old style kids songs and nursery rhymes.  Our green screen technology is "behind the scenes" and allows us to present Storytime Pup with fun, colorful, yet simple backgrounds.   But, we feel this simple approach lends itself more to children's use of their imaginations.
We are confident that children and parents will enjoy the simplicity of the Storytime Pup Show.  Who couldn't not love a big, adorable puppy dog that reads you great children's books?  So, call us old school and we hope you too can appreciate what "old school" has to offer.

04/28/2016: Storytime Pup - First Few Reviews Are In

I sent a short 1 minute teaser video to one of the authors and also to one of the artists.  They showed it to some young children.  One of them told me "I showed it to my 4 year old twins and they loved it and wanted to watch it again and again :-) .  The other told me that he showed it to his cousins children in Indonesia and they "really liked it and are looking forward to seeing more of Storytime Pup"
We couldn't be happier to hear this initial feedback from children.  It actually touches my heart to know that Storytime Pup can bring joy to children.  we hope he is embraced the same way by all children.  Hoping for the best as we prepare the very first shows which will start this Sunday, May 1st.
